*NIYYAT (INTENTION) OF SALATUL TARAWEEH*

A. What is the ruling regarding salatul Taraweeh? Is it compulsory to pray it? Is the ruling same for both men and women?
B. What niyyah should be done for taraweeh?
C. Can we make niyyah for 20 rak'aat at ones?

A. Salatul Taraweeh, for both men and women, for the entire month, is sunnate muakkadah. For women, praying with jamaat is not sunnate muakkadah.

It is not permissible to let go of sunnate muakkadah without any genuine reason. A person who makes it a habit of not praying is considered faasiq and sinful.
B. The niyyah of taraweeh is same as that of other prayers. It is to be said the same way as I am praying sunnah salatul taraweeh.

C. It is to perform niyaah at the beginning of taraweeh and not necessarily after every rak'aat.
